UFC's Anthony Smith says fans are stupidAs Anthony Smith gears up for UFC 301, he's not shying away from addressing the online trolls who have been targeting him.

Known for his role as a UFC analyst and frequent presence on podcasts, Smith has become accustomed to criticism from online commentators. Often, these critics resort to insults whenever they disagree with his opinions. However, Smith refuses to let the negativity affect him.

During a media day for UFC 301, Smith didn't hold back in his response to the trolls. "Some of it is the position I put myself in as being an analyst," he explained. "Fans are stupid. They are. Like, you guys write an article and they don’t read the article. They just read the headline and they just make up the rest in their head. If they actually read it, almost everything I say makes a lot of sense."

Smith further elaborated on the dynamic between his role as an analyst and his identity as an athlete. He admitted to occasionally making provocative statements to gauge reactions from fans, but emphasized that his commentary should be viewed separately from his career as a fighter.

One topic that has garnered particular attention is Smith's analysis of UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Despite facing criticism for his evaluations, Smith stands by his assessments, asserting that knowledgeable fans and fighters understand his perspective.

Looking ahead to his fight at UFC 301 against Vitor Petrino, Smith remains focused on his performance in the Octagon. He aims to bounce back from a recent loss and hand Petrino his first defeat. Despite the distractions from online critics, Smith feels mentally prepared and is determined to enjoy the process.

"It’s the most important part," Smith emphasized. "If I’m not having fun, I might as well not do it. I fight like shit when I’m not having fun."

As UFC 301 approaches, Smith is in a positive mindset and ready to showcase his skills in the Octagon.
